Urban Pop Artist Chris Releases Debut EP “Spread the Love”

Introducing a New Talent to the Music Scene

Washington, DC (Friday, Nov 11, 2011) - Soblu Music Group is proud to introduce Urban Pop Artist, Chris, to the music industry. Chris, a native of Washington, D.C., embodies a unique sound which is showcased on her debut EP, “Spread the Love,” releasing today (11/11/11). A refreshing blend of genres ranging from Dance to R&B to Pop, Chris has crafted an introductory project that truly showcases her versatile sound. When asked about why she chose to release her debut EP on the significant date of 11.11.11, Chris states, “It’s an exciting date! There won’t be another 11/11 for another 100 years and so many weddings are happening 11/11, so love is in the air! This project is very important to me so I thought it was fitting, a picture perfect debut date.

When you press play on “Spread the Love” you will be greeted by the percussion-infused up-tempo lead single from the EP, “Yea Ok.” The other records featured on the EP are titled “Swag Is Up”, “Ask Me”, “808”, “Put It On Me”, & “#LEZGO”. The slow R&B groove of “Ask Me” sets it up as a favorite for listeners and a clear indication of the capacity this young star has to experiment with a number of different genres. With this project, Chris is definitely striving to prove to people that the love is still paramount, it lives in the music and will continue to grow once you chose to spread it to others.

When asked who her favorite artist is or who she is most often compared to, Chris immediately states, “Aaliyah! She is one of my favorite performers and I have always loved the writing and production on her albums. She was able to make urban, percussive music that was still popular and could crossover. Another favorite of mine is Janet Jackson. She can do a song in any genre and it makes sense. That flexibility and freedom of artistry makes her really timeless in my eyes. I also like what I am hearing from a lot of the ladies at the top of the Pop game right now. Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Ke$ha, etc. I hear a lot of great music coming out and it is really inspiring.” With a list consisting of such talented women, Chris is destined to have success as she has open ears, an open mind and a strong desire to explore and experience a world filled of ever-changing music.

To download “Spread the Love”, please visit and follow Chris at @chrisworldmusic.

Spread the Love” was released at 3:33p and is available for FREE on Chris’ website,

About Studio 85
Tammi, Tamika, & Tiffany are sisters who were born & raised in Washington, DC. As kids they were always taking their creativity to new levels, whether putting on homemade fashion shows in their moms closet or turning the whole house into an amusement park! The three have always kept in touch with their creative side and it was always encouraged by their artist father, and there fashion forward mom. So working in a creative field seemed to be fate for each sister. Studio85 came to be one morning at a coffee house, in their parents hometown of Lancaster, South Carolina. They were singing songs, making jokes, & somewhere the idea of making funny names for nail polishes came about, and that's how they came up with idea of creating this line. The name "Studio 85" just seemed to flow with the women. They knew they wanted a studio and CEO Tiffany was born in 1985, completing their artistic semi-circle. Once the company name was decided, the three narrowed down the hundreds of names & color combinations to develop the now exclusive S85 Nail Gloss. With their love for the arts, and their eager ambition to make all things possible these sisters are looking forward to presenting you with all things art and apparel with, Studio 85.

[RECAP] Royce Da 5'9 LIVE in Baltimore [Sept 2nd]

10:43 AM Candice Mackel 0 Comments

Royce Da 5'9

Friday evening (Sept 2nd) in Baltimore, MD Detroit's own Royce Da 5'9 performed LIVE at Sonar. As surprise guests, he brought out Kid Vishus (who is also a collaborator on "Success Is Certain") and group member Crooked I from Slaughterhouse.

Crooked I (Slaughterhouse Member)

The show was hosted by 92 Q's Squirrel Wyde & the tunes were provided by DJ Remedy. Before Royce touched the stage, Greenspan, LOS, Skarr-Akbar, Lenwood & Grad Dai opened. Royce graces the stage around 12:45am and the crowd erupted with excitement! Between sets, he shared some of his favorite liquor (1800 Silver) to anyone who had a cup and they essentially then took a drink with one another. Royce also took some time to briefly tell the audience how five years ago he was in jail, so all of this was just a bonus. He then shared that "Bad Meets Evil" has now been established as certified Gold and "Lighter's" (also featuring Eminem & Bruno Mars) was now Platinum.

Kid Vishus

Royce Da 5'9 definitely delivered Friday night in Baltimore and is more than deserving of such an amazing year he is having. This one of a kind show was powered by Harris International & Tay-Land Promotions.

Celebrating Art, Fashion & Music, “Art is Life” Gives Back to the Community

It’s Not a Lifestyle, but a Movement.

Washington, DC (Wednesday, May 4, 2011)- Art! Fashion! Music! All are incredible topics to discuss in a round table or just your everyday conversation; however when you fuse all three together there is no telling what will be the outcome. On Sunday, May 15th, 2011 in Washington, DC “Art is Life” will be able to showcase that curiosity you may have with the collaboration of artistic expression. “Art is Life” is the creation of Ara Renada Whiting who is an artist herself and who prides herself on her creative skills and giving back to the community.

“Art is Life” is sponsored by Mosaic Love & Martin’s Lounge and will take place at THEARC Theater, hosted by Honeycomb Set CEO Sherrella La Bella, and DJ Misfit will be spinning. There will be LIVE performances by Bear Witnez, David Correy, Carty Yeah, Ihsan Bilal, Cloud 9, Brandon Pierre and many more, as well as LIVE body painting provided by The Artist Ed of Miskeen. For the designers, “Art is Life” is proud to present Rapteez, Euro, Victoir C, Angels&Dimes Luxury, L Wear, Renee France Designs, K White Collection, Demeanor, Demarco Solar, Greatness + Wealth, Nayaricci, Aleeka DeMorris, AMA Fashions & Ara Renada Whiting’s own Pynk Leopard. When asked about the importance of “Art is Life” Ara states that “Art is Life is a movement and I plan on taking it on the road this year to various cities. I love to give back to my community and I hope that on Sunday everyone will see the importance of keeping the arts alive”.

In all events, “Art is Life” will stay true to a “red carpet” event but with a splash of creativity. There will be a pink carpet present at “Art is Life” instead of the typical red carpet, so this will be an event to come out and feel free to be your artistic self! From 3-5pm, “Art is Life” is open to the public for the trunk show & art gallery. At 5pm, the fashion show will begin promptly. There will be an after party held at Martin’s Lounge from 9p-1am as well.

With a huge focus on giving back and making a difference, “Art is Life” will be donating proceeds from the show to “Face Up 2 Cancer” & to the Corcoran Art Gallery located in Washington, DC. THEARC Theater is located at 1901 Mississippi Ave SE, Washington, DC. Tickets can be purchased at The after party is located at 1919 9th St NW, Washington, DC. 9:29 PM Candice Mackel 0 Comments

On Friday, April 8th there was a private event held at Layla Lounge. This event was the DJ Clinic & Exhibition with DJ Scratch. The space was filled with about 160 individuals. There was a mix of DJs, hip hop lovers and ones who were very interested in beginning the art of DJ'ing. The event was very exciting as DJ Scratch shared some of his techniques of DJ'ing and what he did to train himself and he even started to scratch with his elbow! There are four pictures below from the DJ Clinic. The main event took place on Saturday, April 9th at The Warehouse in Washington DC! Welcome to "The Winner's Tour"! The Warehouse was definitely the place to be Saturday night! With spotlights outside and complimentary Smirnoff cocktails all night the attendees were very pleased and partying! DJ Stylus warmed everyone up and then DJ Scratch followed and started his set with some classic Notorious B.I.G.! He definitely took the crowd back to Brooklyn! Just Blaze took to the DJ booth around 1:15 am and began his set with Jay-Z and continued to play the hits that he produced and the crowd was going bananas! This event was more so like a house party! There weren't any "wall flowers" and it truly embodied the essence of what hip hop stands for. There are also pictures from the tour attached. The Red Tent Symposium in DC [March 25-26]

9:52 PM Candice Mackel 0 Comments

Mar 04, 2011 – In celebration of “Women’s History Month”, LiL SoSo Productions is delighted to present “The Red Tent Symposium for Women: Problem Solving Outside of the Framework”. This unique women-only event based on the very popular fictional novel, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, will feature an all-day program Saturday, March 26th from 9am-3:30pm at the John A. Wilson building in Washington, DC.

The program on March 26th will feature workshops and sessions on the following topics: “The Vital Role of Women-Centered Relationships”, “Happily Ever After?…”, "It’s Okay to Walk Away: When Friendships Run Their Course”, “The Balancing Act: Is There Such a Thing as Doing Too Much?", “When Talking to ’The Girls' Is No Longer Enough", “Body Love: Honoring the Self Everyday” & “When the Going Gets Tough, How to Keep Going”. Women from all walks of life are invited to participate, especially college and young women between the ages of 13-17 (with a guardian). In the 21st century it is vital that women continue to embrace and nurture each other in the real and created bonds of sisterhood.

The creator of the symposium and Associate Professor of English at Prince George’s Community College, Risikat Okedeyi states, “This symposium is about who you are as a woman, not necessarily what you do. We have over 25 women sharing insights based on their life experiences. The panel topics are varied, but address the things that we often shy away from. As women we have to accept that the "framework" doesn't always meet our needs or expectations. It's time for real talk and real solutions. For all who enter the red tent, this will be the primary objective."

The Red Tent Symposium will kick off with a “We Exchange” reception on Friday, March 25th at Tap n’ Parlour located on historic U St in Washington, DC from 5-8pm. This will serve as an opportunity for the registrants to pick up symposium materials and mingle with other attendees and panel presenters.
