The Black Alumni Networking Expo is Back for its Third Year in the Nation’s Capitol
Creating a Platform for Black Professionals to Network, Connect and be Heard

Washington, DC (July 1, 2016)- In its third year, The Black Alumni Networking Expo is looking to host over 2,000 individuals in the Nation's Capitol August 11-14, 2016.  Throughout the weekend, there will be 8 Keynote Speakers and Panelists, over 40 small, medium and large sized vendors and 4 essential workshops for professional advancement.

The Black Alumni Networking Expo was created by Carson Byrd, Jarrett Walker and Jonathan King who are graduates of Hampton University, Norfolk State University and The College of William & Mary. Collectively, the three  state "The Black Alumni Networking Expo was created in order to provide a space for black professionals to network and connect. We noticed that, outside of the traditional networking events, there was a need for a large scale event catering to black professionals."

  • August 13th- BANExpo with Special Guest Speakers, Breakout Sessions, Onsite Recruiting + More (11 AM-4 PM)
  • August 13th- Black Alumni Ball (10 PM-2 AM)

Taking the Magazine Industry by Storm by Sharing what being “Women Of Excellence” truly Means
Annapolis, MD (July 1, 2016)- This is year of celebrating women! From running for office, to balancing their careers and personal life, to making miracles happen, women are showcasing their excellence in every aspect of their being. On July 16th, in partnership with the Nordstorm located in Annapolis, MD from 11 AM-1 PM, WOE Magazine will hold its launch event.

WOE (Women of Excellence) is the go-to guide designed to create a culture and lifestyle of excellence for women. Their focus is inspiration, style, self-empowerment and empowerment. How does WOE Magazine stand out from the other publications?  They promote authenticity not perfection.

The launch will consist of Continental Breakfast, Special Giveaways, WOE Woman Fashion Presentation (Presented by Nordstorm), Excellence Curated Panel Discussion featuring Bershan Shaw, Tamiko White (Style Expert) and Veronica Jeon (Entrepreneur), a Celebrity Meet and Greet with Bershan Shaw who graces the front cover and a Complimentary Tote from Nordstrom. In addition, Mrs. World 2016 will be making a special guest appearance, along with other special invited guests.

When asked about creating WOE Magazine, Ayo Thomas CEO/Editor in Chief state's “God gave me a vision to  launch women’s group entitled (Women of Excellence Fellowship). I  created a small intimate environment for women to share their heart, receive tools and strategies to walk in wholeness and discover their purpose. WOE grew from my living room, to a friend’s basement, community centers, libraries and hotels in the course of 10 years. I had a desire to reach women in a larger capacity by providing empowerment tools and strategies to increase their quality of living. I believe when a woman discovers her true authentic self, she becomes empowered to change her circumstances, life and destiny. In 2015, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of designing a magazine and here I am today launch WOE Magazine!

Melvin Miles Jr., and Community Activist Hattie Bailey

Baltimore, MD – June 30, 2016 - The Scarborough Foundation is hosting its inaugural Scholarship Awards Celebration titled, "A Musical Tribute to Skip Scarborough" on Sunday July 3, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Murphy Fine Arts Center located at 2201 Argonne Dr., Baltimore, MD 21218, on the Morgan State University Campus. Skip Scarborough has been referred to as the "Greatest Songwriter You Never Heard Of." This Grammy Award Winning Songwriter, Producer and Musician’s credits include such classic hits as: "Can't Hide Love" and "Love's Holiday" (Earth,Wind & Fire),"Lovely Day" (Bill Withers), "Don't Ask My Neighbor" (The Emotions), "Love Ballad" (LTD),  "Giving You The Best That I've Got," (Anita Baker), and "It's Alright With Me" (Patti Labelle) to name a few. The soulful night of music features performances by The Earth, Wind & Fire Tribute Band, IN-GRATITUDE and R&B Recording Artists Tracy Hamlin, Dr. Anthony Brown, Marc Scarborough, Gwen Matthews and Alton McClain Scarborough, formerly of the hit 70's Disco girl group, Alton McClain & Destiny.
The evening, hosted by TV/Radio Personality, and Songstress Angela Stribling includes the presentation of scholarships to deserving Maryland Public School Students. Highlights of the evening include the ALEXI Lifetime Achievement Award in Music Industry presented to Earth Wind & Fire (Pre-taped). Morgan State University's Marching Band Director of 43 Years, Melvin Miles, Jr. will be presented the ALEXI Lifetime Achievement Award in Music Education. Receiving the ALEXI Community Service Award for her work in the Park Heights Community is Dr. Hattie Bailey, CEO of  Project Success Youth Place  - Out of School Time Program.
