Camden Repertory Theater Launches Groundbreaking Airbnb Tour with Immersive Play “4 $ALE”

Black woman-led theater company takes bold, original production on the road—transforming everyday spaces into stages

Camden, NJ, June 5, 2025 — Camden Repertory Theater (Camden Rep), a 2024 Tony Featured, Black woman-led nonprofit theater company, is proud to announce the national tour of its original production “4 $ALE, The Play”, a powerful, immersive theater experience hosted inside Airbnb properties across the country. Written and directed by Camden Rep Founder Desi P. Shelton, “4 $ALE!” explores the complex intersections of financial decision-making, friendship, and self-worth through the eyes of two teen girls of color. Blending live performance with interactive dialogue, the production creates a safe and affirming space for young women to examine mindset and money in a deeply relatable way. The national tour kicked off in Brooklyn, NY, and will make stops in cities including:

- Clinton, MD ( June 13, 2025)

- Jackson, MS (June 19, 2025)

- Alexandria, LA (June 20, 2025)

- Houston, TX (June 23, 2025)

-Atlanta, GA (June 25 & 26, 2025)

Each stop on the tour will take place in a residential Airbnb property, transforming traditional theater settings into intimate, immersive storytelling environments.“At Camden Rep, we’re committed to telling bold stories that meet the community where they are—literally and figuratively,” said Desi P. Shelton, Founder and Artistic Director. “With ‘4 $ALE!’, we’re breaking down the fourth wall and traditional venue limitations to deliver a theater experience that is personal, accessible, and impactful.”

The production stars India Marie, a rising actress featured in Wicked City on the AllBLK Network and Crooked Trees on Amazon Prime. She is a proud graduate of Cheyney University, the nation’s first historically Black college and university (HBCU). For over a decade, Camden Rep has built a reputation for original, community-rooted storytelling that centers Black and Brown voices—onstage and off. With this national tour, the company continues its mission to redefine theater as a tool for healing, empowerment, and social reflection.
