Tanya S. James Trailblazes as First Black Woman to be a Title Sponsor of the

Charleston Black Expo

TJ Entertainment Group will kick off Women’s History Month as the event’s first Black woman-owned sponsor

[Charlotte, NC] — Tanya S. James’ TJ Entertainment Group will be the title sponsor for the 25th Annual Charleston Black Expo, making history as the event’s first ever Black-owned sponsor.

The Charleston Black Expo Weekend held in Charleston, SC provides minority-owned businesses with opportunities to showcase their products and services. By participating in the expo, minority-owned businesses can build relationships with major corporations and government entities, all while enhancing economic development and inspiring the African-American community.

With a focus on education, health, jobs, entrepreneurship, and wealth creation, the event is celebrating its 25th anniversary during Women’s History Month -- from Thursday, March 9th until Saturday, March 11th. The Expo will be held in multiple locations throughout the Charleston area with special guests including gospel sensation Tim Bowman Jr., actress and model Eva Marcille, and more. In addition, TJ Entertainment Group will also serve as the sponsor for the post-event celebration social taking place on March 11th in the evening.

When asked about the magnitude of her role in this year's expo Tanya states, “I am constantly looking for ways to build within my community, and supporting Black businesses is at the root of that. The Black Expo is a staple in Charleston. However, for the last 25 years, there has never been a Black-owned business as the title sponsor. To be the first one is truly an honor and the next step for establishing the legacy and example I desire to leave for my children and the world. If we don’t believe in and invest in ourselves, why should anyone else?”

As a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Tanya is a shining example of the University’s motto #AggiesDo. Being an entrepreneur is no easy feat and to be able to consistently give back to the community and serve as an example of the unlimited possibilities is the passion that drives her.
